Mrs. Sue Melva Lee Mannis Fuhrman

Sue Melva Lee Mannis Fuhrman, 75, of Gillett, AR, departed this life on August 5, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on August 7, 1950, to the late Pauline Kagebein Mannis and the late Otis Franklin Mannis. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Richard, Jerry, and Bobby, and her sons: CJ Capps, Jon Fuhrman, Shane Barron, and Stephen Roberts, and her daughter-in-love Melissa Bohnert. She is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Gary Fuhrman of Gillett, AR; her daughters: Terry Fuhrman of Gillett, Kena (Mike) Henderson of Almyra, AR, and Lynn Barron Roberts (Teddy Chadwick) of Horseshoe Bend, AR; her siblings: Sharon Ware, Larry Mannis, Vick Mannis and Jeff Mannis; her grandchildren: Amber Carver (Nikki Melton), Chelsea Noblin, Jessica (Jimmy) Harrison, Sidney Barron, Taylor Barron, Samuel (Carol Ann) Capps, Rachel Capps, Corey (Madison) Fuhrman, Jenna Fuhrman, and MANY great grandchildren, and loved ones. Sue’s definition of wealth was not measured in bank accounts, mansions or expensive cars; instead, she measured wealth by the love that surrounded her; the love she received and the love she gave so freely. By that definition, she was and will remain one of the wealthiest people God ever placed on this earth, and now she has the wings she deserves. This love for caring led to her decades long career in nursing. She attended Rice Belt Vo-tech and received her LPN and later attended UAM received her RN. She has worked in many of the surrounding hospitals throughout her career. Her loving and compassionate nature led to wonderful rapport with patients and led to her being the recipient of the Daisy Award, an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. She had a healing touch and a way with people that made her a master of her craft. While Sue was proud of her work, she was more proud of her family. Her time not nursing was spent caring for and building her very large family. She was surrounded by many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and anyone else who needed a home. Her heart was open to anyone who needed it, and there was nothing she loved more than being a nana and to see her family get together. She was a pillar in both her community and family that can never be replaced. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, August 7 at Essex Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. August 8 at First Baptist Church in Gillett with burial following in Thompson Cemetery.
