Mrs. Betty Carlin DeBerry Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Betty M. DeBerry, age 73, of Crocketts Bluff, Arkansas passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Thursday morning, June 17, 2021 at DeWitt Hospital. She was born October 27, 1947 to D. L. “Mut” and Elizabeth “Tootsie” Carlin, who both preceded her in death. She was a member of Big Lagrue Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang and served as Church Clerk for many years. Betty is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob, 2 sons, Lee (Gina) of Batesville, Arkansas and Gerrad of Crocketts Bluff, Arkansas; 1 grandson, Jonathan, of Conway, Arkansas; 1 granddaughter, Katie, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; 2 sisters, Peggy Grantham of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, and Phyllis Dupslaff of DeWitt, Arkansas and 1 niece, Angie White (Phil) of Bakersville, North Carolina, as well as many other great nieces and nephews. Betty spent most of her working life at two places, Cormier Rice Mill in DeWitt, then after moving away for a short stint, she finished her working career at Arkansas County Bank after moving back home, retiring in 2015. Betty was happiest when she was spending time out on the farm, usually mowing or spraying roundup. She also loved cooking for the men who worked on the farm and dearly loved spending time with her two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Essex Funeral Home Chapel with visitation beginning at 1 pm and funeral at 2:30 pm, with interment to follow at Crockett's Bluff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Big Lagrue Missionary Baptist Church, 115 Sam DeBerry Rd., DeWitt, AR 72042 or to the Caring & Sharing Food Pantry, P.O. Box 8, DeWitt, AR 72042.
