Mrs. Cecile Hearn Gray

January 30, 1929 - June 9, 2017

Garnett Cecile Hearn Gray , 88, of DeWitt passed away Friday, June 9, 2017.  She was born to Garnett and Ora Hearn on January 30, 1929 in DeWitt, Arkansas where she grew up and attended school.   Cecile was a homemaker, mother, and wife.  She drove a school bus for the DeWitt School district for 10 years.  Cecile was a lifelong Southern Baptist and was an active Sunday School teacher and participated in vacation bible school as long as she was able.   Cecile was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles E. Gray; two sons Jimmy and Roy Charles Gray; one grandson Jeff Gray; three sisters Helen Montgomery, Lois Thacker, and Frances Snyder;  and two brothers Lewy and Basil Hearn.   She is survived by two sons Robert G. Gray of Monticello and W. Scott Gray (Jeanie) of DeWitt; four grandchildren David Gray (Mandy) of Magnolia, Denise Garcia (Carlos) of Monticello, and Dustin and Ashton Gray of DeWitt; five great grandchildren Elizabeth and Emily Garcia, Bryce, Britni, and Aaron Gray; and one great great grandson Benjamin Gray.   Visitation will be June 13 from 5-7 p.m. at Essex Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 June 14 at New Life Fellowship with burial in DeWitt Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home.
