Elsie Marie Turner Smith, 73, of DeWitt passed away December 5, 2018. She was born November 29, 1945 in Reydell to Burl Lafayette Turner and Elsie Mills Turner. She was a homemaker and made the best homemade biscuits and fried apple pies. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jimmy Smith; brother, Burl Turner; and sisters Lucille Sherman, Mary Alice Cash, Viola Bagwell, and Lois Turner. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Allen Smith; three daughters Tammy Haney (Jim) of Tichnor, Karen White (Donald) and Melinda Smith (Morgan) both of Almyra; three grandchildren Justin Haney (Meg), and Holden and Coley Kyle; and sister Carolyn Mannis of Stuttgart. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. December 7 at Essex Funeral Home with burial in Bayou Meto Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. before the funeral.
