Mr. Thomas Earl Coker

Thomas Earl Coker, 95, of St. Charles passed away April 19, 2022. He was born April 7, 1927, in Sledge, MS, to Ellis Earl Coker and Willie Mae Daughtery Coker. Tom served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for the Fish and Wildlife Service for 30 years. After retiring from the Fish and Wildlife Service, Tom worked for 20 years at the St. Charles Water Department. Tom was a member of St. Charles Baptist Church and served a deacon for 57 years. He also served as pastor of Tichnor Baptist Church for 9 1/2 years and Hagler Baptist Church for 9 months. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Mike Coker; and one brother C.M. Coker. Tom is survived by his wife of 72 years, Evelyn Rowe Coker, who he married July 14, 1949. He is also survived by his children Darrell Coker (Natalie) of Little Rock, Paul Coker (Stacey) of Conway, and Cathy Palomo (David) of San Antonio, TX; daughter-in-law Glenda Coker of Clarendon; eight grandchildren Eden Coker, Tess Coker, Brandon Palomo, B.J. Palomo, Anna Coker, Coltan Coker, Jereme Coker, and Misty Derrick; great granddaughter Madalyn Derrick; and one brother Crockett Williams of Independence, MS. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 April 23 at St. Charles Baptist Church with funeral services beginning at 2:00. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens by Essex Funeral Home.
