Mr. Virgil Riley Hynum

December 18, 1933 - March 3, 2022

Virgil Riley Hynum, 88, of DeWitt passed away March 3, 2022. He was born December 18, 1933, in Bayou Meto, AR, to Odis and Bessie Bullock Hynum. After serving 20 years in the United States Air Force, Virgil retired from the military, and he and his family moved to DeWitt. After moving to DeWitt, Virgil worked as the warehouse manager for Helena Chemical. He was a member of First Baptist Church in DeWitt and was a deacon for 58 years. Virgil loved his family very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Bessie Hynum; brother Homer Hynum; and mother-in-law Oneita Williams. Virgil is survived by his wife of 64 years Jackie Hynum; two daughters Peggy Jean Hynum of Mountain Home and Tammie Jane Hynum of Little Rock; brother-in-law Robert Paul Terrell (Phyllis) of Kaufman, TX; and special friends Penny Jean Wilson of Little Rock and Robin Pattillo of DeWitt. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. March 7 at First Baptist Church with burial in DeWitt Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home.
