Mr. William Webster Hillman

December 19, 1922 - November 21, 2018

William Webster Hillman, 95, of Almyra passed away at his home November 21, 2018. He was born December 19, 1922 in Bayou Meto, AR, to Clinton and Gertrude Bridgeland Hillman. He graduated from DeWitt High School in 1940. Webster was a World War II Army veteran and served as a military police officer in Japan. In August 1945 while in Japan, he guarded Tojo, who was the Japanese Minister of War. After his military service, Webster came back to Arkansas County and was an active farmer and community leader. He was a member of Almyra First Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He loved his God, his family, his country, and his farm. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years Betty Stone Hillman; sisters Mary Sue Spurlock, Ellen West, and Hope Luebke; and brother Howard Hillman. Webster is survived by his children David Hillman (Janis), Susan Moss (Ted), and Walter Hillman (Karen) all of Almyra; seven grandchildren Nancy Efurd, Deborah McMillan (Corey), Julie Thomas (Scott), Greg Moss, Jonathan Hillman (Rachel), Jennifer Goode (Cory), and Ryan Hillman (Karlyn); 20 great grandchildren; brother George Hillman of Tulsa, OK; and his constant companion and caregiver Darlene Horton. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, November 25 at Essex Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Almyra Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gideons International or Hillman Family Scholarship, c/o OBU, 410 O St., Arkadelphia, AR 71923.
