Mrs. Eleanor Ruth Smith Bullock

Eleanor Ruth Smith Bullock of Crocketts Bluff, AR departed this life October 18, 2018. She was born in 1926 in La Salle County, Illinois a daughter of W.R. Smith and Elsie R. Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Arkansas County and graduated from DeWitt High School. She attended Draughan's Business College, and worked at Little Rock Insurance Agency for two years. Eleanor married Boone Bullock in 1945 and they settled in Crocketts Bluff. She was the past president of the St. Charles and Arkansas County PTA and past president of Arkansas County Extension service, where she was a 60+ year member serving since 1945. Eleanor was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, a charter member of the White River Radio Club, member of the Crocketts Bluff community center and Crocketts Bluff Volunteer Fire Department board. She was active for over 60 years in the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 158 and served as an officer. She also served as the 8th district president of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the 63rd Division Ladies U.S. Army WWII and member of the 8/40 Salon #373 in Brinkley. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Boone, parents, still born brother W.R. Smith, Jr., and brother Robert R. (Bob) Smith. She is survived by her sons Stevan and wife Peggy and Terry Dan and wife Joan, daughters Eileen Ziegler and husband Randy and Ruth Ellen Richard and husband Charles David, grandsons Cody (April) Bullock, Scott (Shannon) Bullock, and Neil Wiethorn, granddaughters Sierra Wiethorn, Kalyn Stark, and Stephanie TinerMegan Richard, and Chelsea Persons (Nathan), great grandchildren Steven M. Sowell, Jaylyn and Raylyn Gorman, Mollie Tiner, and Kaci Jo and Tilden Persons, and great great granddaughter Emerson Sowell. Eleanor is also survived by sisters Carlotta Barnhill (Robert) and A. Janice Smith. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, October 21 at Essex Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 22 at Essex Funeral Home chapel with burial following in Crocketts Bluff Cemetery.
